Frequently asked questions.
What is self-storage, and how does it work?
Self-storage is a service where you rent a secure unit to store your personal belongings for as long as needed. You sign a rental agreement, pay monthly rent, and receive access to your private storage space. You provide your own lock and are the only person with access to your unit
How do I rent a storage unit?
Renting is simple! You can reserve a unit online before or after you visit our facility. You'll need a valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport) and payment for your first month's rent. We offer month-to-month agreements with no long-term commitments, or long-term rates with significant discounts.
How long can I rent a storage unit?
You can rent for as long as you need! Most agreements are month-to-month, allowing you to stay as long as necessary as long as payments are made on time. There's typically no maximum rental period.
What types of storage units do you offer?
We offer traditional drive-up units where you can drive directly to your unit door for easy loading, and indoor climate-controlled units that maintain a consistent temperature. Climate-controlled units are ideal for sensitive items like electronics, artwork, and musical instruments.
What are your access hours?
We allow tenants to access their units between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, 7 days per week. For urgent access outside of business hours, an appointment must be made with management. Management cannot guarantee off-hour access for requests within 48 hours.
What security measures do you have?
Our facility features 24/7 surveillance cameras, and soon will have a remote-controlled security gate. Each renter holds the only key to their unit - our staff does not have access to your belongings.
Do I need to provide my own lock?
Yes, you must provide your own lock to secure your unit. We recommend heavy-duty disc locks or cylinder locks as they're more resistant to theft than combination locks. We also sell locks on-site if needed.
What can I store in my unit?
You can store furniture, appliances, electronics, clothing, household items, business equipment, and most personal belongings. Seasonal items, sports equipment, and boxes are commonly stored items.
What items are prohibited?
You cannot store anything perishable, flammable, combustible, hazardous, poisonous, or illegal. This includes food, plants, animals (living or dead), gasoline, propane, paint, and chemicals. Vehicles must have batteries disconnected and fuel removed.
Do I need insurance for my stored items?
While not always required, insurance is highly recommended. Check if your homeowner's or renter's insurance covers items in storage, or consider purchasing tenant insurance through an independent provider. We do not provide insurance for your belongings.
Can I change unit sizes after moving in?
Yes! If your storage needs change, we can help you switch to a different size unit based on availability. There are typically no penalties for changing sizes.
What happens if I can't pay my rent?
If rent becomes delinquent, we may exercise our lien rights and auction your belongings to recover unpaid rent. We'll provide proper notice according to BC laws before taking any action.
Can other people access my unit?
Only authorized individuals listed on your rental agreement can access your unit. You can authorize family members, friends, or movers by updating your agreement or notifying us in advance.
